Have you ever wondered if there’s a BETTER way?
That there’s something BIG out there waiting for you? Or do you have a burning desire inside of you to inspire and make an impact? That was me back in 2008 while I sat in my office running the credit division of a group of well-known car dealers in Oakville, Canada.
As an outsider looking in, my life looked pretty good: good job, nice house, nice car; but I was completely tied to my work. It drove me nuts- waking up each morning to someone else’s schedule and going to work for someone else’s dream.
Being stuck in an office 12 hours a day, 6 days a week was not the way I wanted to spend the rest of my working life until I was 65 especially when my real passion was coaching. I KNEW there had to be a BETTER way!
At the beginning of 2009, I had lunch with a Private Investigator friend of mine who asked me the question that changed my life: "If there was an opportunity that fit into your current schedule, would you be open to looking at a BETTER way of making money?"
After listening to what he said, I started to think very differently about being an Employee vs an Entrepreneur!
I wish I had the information he gave me years ago; it would have changed the financial trajectory of my family for generations to come. Unfortunately, we’re conditioned to be employees and drones rather than Business Owners, and to succeed in business, you have to be a leader.
That's how Network Marketing found me. My P.I. friend called me up and invited me to sit in on a business presentation.
When I got there, I was exposed to the Network Marketing Environment for the very first time. There was a weird Flip Chart set up in the corner of a room in a restaurant and people from all walks of life were milling around.
To be honest, I was just trying to be nice to my friend, find out what he was selling, what it cost, write him a check and bail out of there.
After a short video and a really boring presentation, the last page of the flip chart talked about the different levels in the company and what the average income was. When the presenter said what they were earning, and it only took them 3 years to get to that level after a relatively small start-up cost, I did the math and signed the application form.
I’m not kidding. I thought, if these crazy people are making that kind of money and I’m slaving away at my job 12 hours a day to make less than half that amount, then I'm in!
This crazy schedule was taking time away from my real raison d'etes, COACHING.
As a Nationally certified award-winning coach, I had already seeing those I coached rise to gold medal winning performances in the Olympics or become professional multi-millionaire athletes, I knew I needed a BETTER way to both follow my passion and make money.
So, like most people who catch the Network Marketing bug, I thought, ‘If THEY can do this, then I could ace this in no time flat. I got this, and I’m gonna be a millionaire fast!’ But I didn't treat it seriously; I treated it like what it cost me: a few hundred dollars, instead of what I could earn: massive passive residual income. I was out doing home business presentations a few nights a week while working a crazy work schedule on top of that and trying to balance everything else that comes with having a family.
I quickly realized that Network Marketing had to be treated like a business if I wanted it to pay me like one. The benefit of owning my own business vs. my job was that one was a very lucrative three-year plan that would set me up for life, while the other was a lifetime of work which earned me less than half of what I could make by choosing my own business. Clearly, making my own business my priority was my preference and I knew I could make it BIG.
The spring of 2017, I was sitting in a chair that was left to me by my grandmother thinking about how I missed her, and I got a call that I can remember clearly today. My Aunt was dying. She had cancer that had metastasized and it was no longer a matter of if- it was a matter of when. I rushed home to Montreal, Quebec where my family was, about 6 hours away, and spent the weekend shuttling between the hospital and the various factions of my massive family all over the city. After a few days, the Dr. told us that we needed to plan for the inevitable.
I had the blessing of being the firstborn of my generation, so I grew up with many, many aunts and uncles who all believed in me. My earliest memories are of my Aunts who acted like back-up Moms. Now this back-up mom was about to leave me. I had to be there, but shuttling back and forth from Toronto to Montreal was taking a toll on my income.
She passed to God on June 8th, 2017. A few days later, I was checking my phone, and I saw a message from "Canada Residual Team" and, like a lightbulb over my head in a cartoon, I had an idea. I thought to myself, ‘Why am I killing myself exchanging time for money when a BETTER way exists?’ It was then I resolved to move through the levels of this amazing opportunity.
By January 4th 2018, I received a leveling up bonus. Not for just one or two levels, but up four full levels! I haven't had to trade time for money ever since.
I’ll be honest, learning how to properly market your business is not easy, but it is worth it. It took me about 7 months to really get the hang of HOW to make it all work, but once I found my strategy and got committed to making it work, some really awesome things started to happen.
• I started Recruiting more!
• I started getting more customers!
• I built an online presence my whole team could replicate!
• I started to build an International Business!
• I travelled to help my team and to learn! (You should see my Dutch Windmill pics!)
• More qualified prospects began to reach out to me wanting to join my business!
Having a good mix of offline and online marketing for my team has REALLY boosted our results, and, as a leader in this industry, I believe it’s our job to embrace the changes in technology by making Social Media one of our biggest networking assets!
Today
I am so blessed and grateful for the life owning my own network marketing business has afforded me. I feel awesome, and I’m free from the daily grind! It took hard work, but I have something that most people don’t have: complete peace of mind. I still work HARD (about 2 hours a day), but I love what I do and I wouldn’t trade the ups and downs of owning my own business and being an entrepreneur for anything. I’ve replaced my JOB, where I had to trade my time for dollars, with a residual paycheck that grows bigger each month. I rarely have to look at price tags anymore.
I’ve been blessed to have had the opportunity to speak in various places and tell my story. I now train people in my marketing strategies across North America and in Europe. I get to enjoy every day with my friends and family. I travel often because I love to travel and now have the time and income to do so without stress. And I never need to worry about missing something while I’m away, because my business travels with me! I get to spend every day where I please, as I please. I am also able to pass on my wealth to my children one day.
